On Monday 12th October 2009 we had our annual Club Golf Match at Yeovil Golf Club for the ‘Bryan Chant Golf Trophy’. Bryan was a member of our club and Yeovil Golf Club for many years and as Sports Officer organised most of our Golf and Skittles matches. This years winner  was John Morley who won it on a count back to the last hole with Trevor Slade coming second. The trophy was once again presented by Betty Chant at the dinner after the match when we were joined by non playing members and the ladies.

The club tries to have a social event each month and these cover a wide range of events.

We have what is known as a Pot Luck Supper when the ladies each make a part of the meal and the evening is hosted at one of the Lions houses.

We have trips to the theatre often having a meal before of after the show.

We have skittles evenings and Ten Pin Bowling Nights.

A popular social night is our ‘Progressive Supper’ in which you go to a different house for your ‘starter’, ‘main course’ and ‘dessert’. You don’t eat with the same people twice and finally all meet up for coffee.

In October we have our annual ‘Charter Night Dinner & Dance’ and December is when we take our Ladies out for a Christmas Dinner.

In the summer months we often have a Bar-B-Q or an evening walk finishing up at a pub for supper.

As our club is now in it’s 45th year many of us have made longstanding friendships. We have got to know each others families, the children and now the grandchildren. All of this friendship through being a Lion has also contributed to a very full and enjoyable social life.  See Events Diary for planned Social events.
